Milky Way over Loch Lurgainn and peak of Sgorr Tuath, Assynt.

Milky Way over Loch Lurgainn and peak of Sgorr Tuath, Assynt.

This was the first shot on my first night of a 1100 mile whirlwind tour up the north of Scotland, taking in Assynt, Lewis, Harris and the very top of Scotland. The conditions were challenging at times, and sleeping in the back of my car for a week had its own challenges...but I loved every minute of it!
I arrived at the foot of Stac Pollaidh in darkness and spent most of the night gazing to the sky looking for glimpses of stars between the snow showers.
Thankfully this view was a short walk from the car so I was able to set up my camera within a couple of minutes, although with the fast moving clouds, even this was not quick enough.
At points, the sky would clear a little to give tantalising glimpses of the Milky Way over Loch Lurgainn and peak of Sgorr Tuath.
I have posted another shot with an almost clear sky in the comments.
